Architectural Photography
Photography today is divided into many sub divisions and Architectural photography is just one of them. Architectural photography is an interesting field and requires specialization. In the early years of photography, most of the photographers were commercial photographers and architectural photography was hardly taken seriously. It is only in the recent past that architectural photography succeeded in creating its own space and has ever since attracted new comers to dwell deep into this area of study.
However, although architectural subjects are immobile and seldom complain of being photographed, architectural photography is a tough job. A demanding job, architectural photography requires special skill to make a brick and cement made immobile structure interesting to its viewers.
Technically speaking, architectural photography requires a medium or large format camera which offers high technical quality. It is advisable to pre- determine the building to be shot rather than just going about looking for the right one. This also helps in pre- deciding the angle and situation in which the architectural photograph would be taken.
Architectural photography with ordinary photo equipments either still of movie is difficult and even if taken it does no give the expected picture quality and clarity. Architectural photography is also an art and requires dedication and hard work. Shooting an architectural building becomes even more difficult because of its immobility. The photographer cannot expect the building to shift or turn around to adjust with the light or the settings and therefore the architectural photographs are completely dependent on efficiency and technical knowledge of the photographer.
