Aerial Photography
Aerial photography is the art of photography that captures images from a height or the top. Ariel photography comprises top angle photographs that are taken from camera mounted on helicopters, aircrafts, skydivers, balloons or other crafts. The higher the camera will be placed the wider region it is expected to cover. It can be done both with hand held cameras or cameras stationed on a platform. Introduced by the French photographer Nadar, aerial photography later started to be used for military purposes.
Aerial photography is also used in the fields of architecture and construction. This form of photography is generally used for capturing a huge area. The top view helps in getting the idea of a particular stretch of locality, in the planning of a particular area and designing a locality. It is also used in the fields of film making, environmental studies, archeology, commercial advertising and transportation. GIS system generally helps in the preparation of Aerial photos.
The cameras used for aerial photography have high power lens one of which is the tele- photo lens that can capture objects from long distances. These lenses have the mechanism of a telescope. Various radio controlled cameras have been introduced that helps in low altitude photography.
Aerial photography has brought about huge changes in various fields like residential properties and real estates. Aerial photography can document private properties and its attributes. Public places fall in the domain of aerial photography.
