The telecommunication consumers of Japan were gifted with one more service by KDDI . KDDI in collaboration with au launched the music download service Chaku Uta Full to help in the download of full length songs to mobile phones. There was a swaying response from the customers who had downloaded 10 million Chaku Uta Full songs of full length within six months from the date of introduction of that particular service.

KDDI Corporation is a telecommunication operator originated in October 2000 followed by the merger of KDD, DDI and IDO Corp.

The varied telecommunication services provided by KDDI are:

•  Mobile cellular services (in association with the services by au and the Tu-Ka brands)

•  ISP network and solution services (works under the DION brand)

•  Long distance and international voice and data communications services

•  Optical fiber (works under the brand name of Hikari Plus)

•  ADSL broadband services

•  IP telephony (works in association with the brand Metal Plus)

KDDI created a sensation in the Japanese telecommunication market with the launch of 3G networks using CDMA2000 1X technology on April 1, 2002. On 28 th November the next year, KDDI in association with au introduced CDMA2000 1xEV-DO service in the CDMA 1X WIN brand. KDDI gave the Japanese telecommunication industry a new shape with the introduction of fixed rate data subscription plans at a data rate of 2.4 Megabit per second.
