Conference Calling

Conference calling is a technology of telecommunication in which the caller, if wishes, can have more than one listener participating in the conversation just like in a conference meeting. Conference calling is commonly known as ATC or Audio Tele Conference. Conference calls are configured in such a way that the calling party calls the other participants and joins them to the call. The participants are also able to call in the conference themselves either by using a specific conference telephone number or by dialing into a conference bridge, which is specialized equipment that connects telephone lines. The conference bridge is widely used by most of the companies.

Conference calling is mostly used in offices and for business purposes. Business houses make conference calls regularly to promote meetings between parties and employers. Such meetings are like project meetings and updates, sales presentations, client meetings, training classes, daily team meetings and communications between employers working in different locations. The advantages of conference calling system are reduction in travel expenses, time management and making the workers more productive by not going out of office for meeting peoples. Conference calls are more and more used in combination with web conferences, where information and presentations are shared through the internet.

Though conference calls are widely used in business purposes, conference calling system is also implemented for entertainment and social purposes like party line.
