Flip Mobile Phones

The first model of flip mobile phone from Motorola was launched in the year 1996. The first flip phone model was called Motorola Star TAC. This phone design is a bit different from the usual mobile phones. The phone basically has two halves. The upper half has the speaker and the LCD screen, whereas the microphone and the keypad is installed on the lower part of the flip mobile phone.

It is said that the design of the flip mobile phone originated from the star trek communicator series. Although there is some basic difference in the design of the star trek communicator and the flip mobile phones. The antennae in the flip mobile phone is placed internally or ascends from the lower half of the phone, and this is where the design differs from a star trek communicator.

In todays advanced technology the design of the flip mobile phone has been imitated by many other companies, although all the companies have their own unique design. Motorola's RAZR model is still known as the best and the smartest of all mobile flip phones in todays world. Today major mobile brands like Samsung and Nokia also produces flip mobile phones. There are many other smaller brands which have also launched flip mobile phones.
