Black Gold

Black gold ornaments can be one of the most unconventional gifts which your dear ones will adore. Though it has to be admitted that for a common goldsmith, it is a hard task to customize or add any stones to black gold ornaments. For making jewelry out of the black gold, it is necessary to melt it to a large extent as it is very hard.

Though the term black gold is commonly used for oil, it must be kept in mind that a form of gold is also known as black gold. This black gold is not a natural element - it comes into form only after a lot of chemical changes.

There are a number of techniques of making black gold. One way of making black gold is by using the method of electrodeposition using black rhodium or ruthenium. The other method is Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition of Amorphous Carbon. Oxidation of carat gold with chromium and cobalt also lead to the production of black gold. If a slightly harder black coat is desired, ruthenium can be used instead of rhodium.

Though artificially built, the unconventional and funky look of this metal has made it popular among customers. So if you have a fascination towards exceptional jewelry, one made of black gold will not disappoint you.
