Topaz, the stone of strength, takes its name from the Sanskrit word 'tapas' that means fire. According to another source, the name comes from the Greek word 'topazos' which means ‘seeking something’. Though the second meaning indicates to its discovery, the first one truly characterizes this famous gemstone.
