Jade-Jadeite

The stone Jade-Jadeite has derived its name from the Spanish word “piedra de ijada”. It is a generic term that have been used for two gems namely, nephrite and jadeite. These two gems are considered in China as “ zhen yu” meaning “genuine jade”. Since Jadeite is not abundantly found so it is regarded more valuable than nephrite. The precious Jade-Jadeite is mined in the countries like China, Russia and Guatemala. But the best quality of this gemstone comes from Burma.

The beautiful Jade-Jadeite gemstones are cut in the centres of Hongkong, Beizing, and Canton. In the process of making this gemstone diamond powder and carborundum is used. The gem jadeite shows different types of hues like green, white, pink, reds, blacks, browns and violets. Both nephrite and jadeite are opaque, close-grained but they totally differ in colors and composition.

In earlier times, Jade was considered to be a stone of mental peace, love and harmony in Egypt. The stone is being extensively used for solving kidney related problems. Due to this characteristic, this precious gemstone is also known as “lapis nephriticus”. The colors are properly distributed in good quality jades. Most often it is being seen that Jade have streaks and blemishes on it but nowadays this is not considered as flaws. In many parts of the world this gemstone is regarded as a protective stone for its multiple beneficial aspects. The significance of this stone has not only been restricted to the connoisseurs but has spread throughout the world.
