Diopside

A black star diopside pendant can bring a smile on the face of your teenage daughter. The stone gives an illusion of two images and dimensions. The name diopside of the stone signifies this specialty of the stone. The gem stones of the diopside minerals are of two types - black star and chrome. Chrome diopside resembles emerald uncannily and gold rings made out of this stone with diamonds to complement it are very common. So you can try out an engagement ring while proposing to your beloved and get a positive answer for sure.

The chemical formula of chrome diopside is ((Ca,Na,Mg,Fe,Cr)2(Si,Al)2O6). The characteristics of crystals of diopside vary between transparency and translucency. There are uneven and rough fractures on the stone with streaks of white on it. The vitreous luster of the crystal and wide range of colors like white, blue and various shades of green makes the stones beautiful and precious. The high pressure and high temperature in the earth’s crust is responsible for the creation of these stones. The colors of the crystals vary due the presence of certain minerals in the stone.

The hardness of the stone also differs, for example, chrome diopside is suppler than plain diopside. Parts of the continent of North America, South Africa and parts of the erstwhile Soviet Union contain deposits of diopside. Various types of crystals and different prismatic formations are present in the stones.

Jewelries and ornaments adorned with diopside crystals are sold around the world in various reputed jewelry stores and also over the Internet.
