The Uncle Sam Diamond is a white colored rare diamond weighing around 40.23 carat. Discovered in the United States of America, it is the largest diamond, which came to be known as Uncle Sam Diamond. The gem was discovered near Murfreesboro situated in Arkansas. Found by W.O. Bassum in the year 1924, the stone was named after the nickname of the founder, “Uncle Sam”. This precious stone was cut twice. The gem reduced to an emerald-shaped stone weighing around 12.42 carat after the second cutting.
In the year 1971, this rare Uncle Sam diamond was sold for a price $ 150,000. The diamond has been preserved in the prestigious American Museum of Natural History. Several precious diamonds of North America have been stolen and many of them have disappeared. It has been heard that a bigger form of diamond have been discovered in Canada. This Uncle Sam Diamond is one of the famous diamonds ever found in the world.
