Found in the De Beers mine situated in Kimberly, the Tiffany Yellow Diamond weighs around 287.48 carats. This precious stone was found in the year 1878. The rare Tiffany Yellow diamond was purchased by a jeweler “Charles Lewis Tiffany” who made the stone cut in a cushion shaped structure. The diamond had a total of ninety sides and after cutting the scintillating diamond weighed 128.51 carats.
The Tiffany Yellow diamond is the largest among all other yellow diamonds found in the world. Before the emergence of this stone, there was an orange –yellow diamond which was set in a beautiful jewelry. The famous Tiffany Yellow diamond was on display be fore the public in four main expositions like Chicago Columbian Exposition in 1893, the Pan American Exposition in 1901, the Chicago Century of Progress exposition in 1933-34 and the New York World's Fair in 1939-40.
Later on, in the ‘House of Jewels” this unique stone was the prime attraction of the $14 million collection. In the year 1957, at Newport, this yellow diamond was set on a necklace and was worn as a personal accessory. Mrs. Sheldon Whitehouse was the first women to get the opportunity of wearing this stunning diamond. For about a long span of time there was no trace of this diamond. But in the year 1971, the Tiffany’s returned back and in 1986 opened a branch in the Old Bond Street and again displayed the “Tiffany Yellow diamond”. The stone had never been sold and is still on display in the Tiffany and Co. shop situated in the New York City.
