Weighing around 59.60 carats Steinmetz Pink Diamond is one of the rarest gem found in the world. Pink in color this is one of the largest diamonds and was exhibited in the Smithsonian Museum in the “Splendor of Diamonds” collections. The Gemological Institute of America has rated this diamond as a vivid pink colored stone. A long span of twenty months was taken by the Steinmetz Group to cut this precious stone.
In the year, 2003, 29th May, this famous Steinmetz Pink diamond was displayed to the public. Presently the owner of the rare Steinmetz Pink Diamond is the Steinmetz Group. Along with the other magnificent diamonds like De Beers Millennium Star, Heart of Eternity it was also displayed in the Smithsonian Museum. The stone has a mixed oval brilliant cut, brilliant cut in the pavilion section and step cut at the top.
The diamond was first found in a region of South Africa. The GIA has given the certificate that it is internally flawless. Usually, the pink diamonds are extremely rare and this Steinmetz Pink Diamond has been recognized as a coveted diamond. The supermodel Helena Christensen worn this diamond around her neck.
The famous actress Jenna Elfman also wore this precious stone at the opening ceremony of the exhibition of “Splendor of Diamonds”. Eight members were engaged for giving the gem a proper shape. It weighed around hundred carats in its rough state. A total of fifty models had worked on this diamond even before the cutting started.
