The Moussaieff Red Diamond is a sparkling red colored, trillion cut, 5.11 carats diamond that can outshine the effulgence of other diamonds simply because of its cut and color. The Moussaieff Red Diamond also sometimes known as a trillant or trillion has been rated by GIA (Gemological Institute of America) as Fancy Red. In fact, it is the biggest Fancy Red Diamond in the world ever graded by GIA.
It is said that this stunning Moussaieff Red Diamond was first discovered by a Brazilian farmer during the mid-1990s. The rough diamond then weighed about 13.90 carats. Later this diamond was bought and fashioned by William Goldberg Diamond Corp and it was named as Red Shield. At present Moussaieff Jewelers Ltd owns the diamond and hence it is called Moussaieff Red Diamond.
The Moussaieff Red Diamond was exhibited at the “Splendor of Diamonds” that was held at the Smithsonian Museum from 27th June to 30th September, in the year 2003.
An assortment of dazzling and brilliant diamonds including the De Beers Millennium Star, the Pumpkin Diamond, the Heart of Eternity, the Ocean Dream Diamond, Steinmetz Pink, the Allnatt Diamond and et al were displayed in this exhibition. Among this wide array of diamonds though the Moussaieff Red Diamond seemed small, but it was never looked insignificant!
It featured in this rare collection of diamonds because of its ‘cranberry color’. The Moussaieff Red Diamond, the largest and the rarest red diamond with its astounding beauty can surely become a woman’s best friend!
