The Idol's Eye diamond is a flat bodied pear shaped gem and weighs around 70.20 carats. Before being stolen, the stone was placed in the eye of a statue. It is being heard that this priceless stone was given as a payment to the emperor of Turkey for abducting princess Rasheetah. This ransom was paid by Sheikh of Kashmire.
The Idol's Eye diamond shares an equal size of an egg of bantam hen. It is being recorded that the diamond had been discovered at Golconda in the year 1600. The most popular history behind the Idol's Eye was that the stone was first seen in London at Christie's sale. In the year 1865, 14 th July, the stone made its first appearance. Abdul Hamid II, the thirty-fourth Ottoman Sultan took possession of the Idol's Eye in the later days. The diamond has a triangular cut too. It is one of the largest diamonds that was seen in 24 th June, 1909 for auction. Later on, Spanish trader purchased the diamond and kept it safely in his bank in London.
The diamond re-emerged with its acquiring by a Dutch trader at the end of the II World War. Again in the year 1946, it was purchased by Harry Winston. Mrs. Stanston a beautiful lady as well as a legendary figure used to wear this rare stone during her morning breakfast. The stone was set in a diamond pendant weighing about 22.50 carat along with other diamonds which came around to twelve carat. Later on, this precious Idol's Eye was again purchased by Harry Levinson, a Chicago jeweler. In the year, 1979, bought the diamond which was displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art located in New York.
