The Great Mogul diamond is considered to be the largest diamond in India. In the year 1650, the rare Mogul diamond was found in the Golcondo mines. The rough diamond weighed around seven eighty seven carat. It derived its name from the great emperor Shah Jahan. The stone was given a proper shape by Hortentio Borgis.
Jean Baptiste Tavernier named the jewel as a rose-cut diamond. The Great Mogul diamond has a flaw at the base. During the seventeenth century, Tavernier, who had almost spent his life searching rare diamonds, came to know of this precious gem. But when he reached the place, the stone had already gone into the possession of a person named Emir Jemla.
The person was the Vizier to the Emperor of Golconda and due to security reasons he fled to Delhi and took shelter under Shah Jehan, the builder of Taj Mahal. Presently, the existence of this
rare Mogul diamond is a big question. The current location of this
