Deepdene

Deepdene is recognized as a cushion-cut diamond, which weighs 104.52 carat (20.904 g) and which is colored golden-yellow. It was first unveiled on May 27th in 1971 at the Christie's auction house in Geneva.

The Deepdene Diamond originally weighed 104.88 cts. The diamond is presently housed at the Philadelphia Science Museum. The German Gemmological Institute and the University of Mainz certify the clarity of the diamond as VVS1 as the diamond consists of a couple of minute flaws near the girdle or simply near the midsection of its body. The vivid-yellow color is certified as natural.

The Deepdene name was the gift of the Bok family. The diamond gets its name from the original proprietors of the Pennsylvania estate - the Boks. Initially Deepdene Diamond weighed vaguely more than 104.88 carats (20.976 g) and was escalated in a diamond clip. The diamond witnessed a change of owner, the new owner Harry Winston procured the diamond from the Boks in 1954 and it ultimately created its way to a London firm in 1960 and afterward to its German owner.

The irradiation process of the diamond was accomplished between the years 1955 to 1971. The Deepdene had been subject to irradiation process probably by neutron bombardment. Thus, the Deepdene is extensively considered to be the major irradiated diamond in the globe.

Deepdene was established to be a superior stone rather than a natural colored diamond. The diamond was auctioned at an auction ceremony in Switzerland in November 1997 and the price of the diamond amounted to $715,320.
