Internet Explorer 5

Internet Explorer 5 is the 5 th version of Internet explorer launched on 18 th march, 1999. It is included in the 2 nd edition of Windows 98 and Office 2000 . The most interesting features of Internet Explorer 5 are that it supports:

•  Ruby characters

•  Bi-directional text

•  XML

•  XSL

Internet Explorer 5 also supports the system to save the web pages in the MHTML format. A new improved version of Internet explorer was launched in 2000 named as I nternet Explorer 5.5 . It featured CSS and HTML standards support and supported print preview.

The web pages can be saved in two news ways through Internet Explorer 5. The embedded components are:

•  Web page, complete

•  Web archive

if a web page is saved as a “ Web page, complete”, the target folder immediately creates a folder as the Hypertext Markup Language, commonly known as html, of same name. The folder may contain elements like sounds and images. Every elements from links to other embedded contents of the web page are re-written, which helps in pointing the contents of the folder. Internet Explorer 5 cannot rewrite the hyperlinks.

While a web page is saved as a “ Web archive”, the page automatically saves the information in Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension HTML also known as MHTML.
