Internet Explorer 3.0 is one of the many versions of Internet Explorer that have seen the light of the day. The various versions that evolved were meant to revolutionize the way the world was used to the web browser. Formerly such web browsers as Erwise, ViolaWWW, Mosaic and Netscape Navigator had done well in the early 90's. But with the launch of Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 1.0 in 1995 saw the monopoly of the browser market for a while because Microsoft Internet Explorer installation came for free. Soon Internet explorer gave Netscape Navigator a tough competition and although navigator was made free after a while, Internet Explorer rules the market even to this day.
The Internet Explorer 3.0 was designed particularly for Windows 95 computers. To compete with the Netscape Navigator Browser, it constantly ensured enhanced facilities of the browser. This was done to make it user friendly.
The Special Features of Internet Explorer 3.0 were:
Internet mailing facility
Internet News 1.0
Windows address Book
Microsoft NetMeeting
ActiveX controls, Java Applets, Inline Multimedia and PICS System were introduced.
The Internet Explorer 3.0 launched in August 1996 had several variations preceding and succeeding it.
