NetPositive comes as a browser of BeOS operating system by default, and is more commonly known as Net+. It belongs to the category of other browsers.
Features of NetPositive
- It partially supports JavaScript but does not support CSS or Java.
- Initially BeOS could avail only this web browser, but now this it is not so.
- The last version of NetPositive that was known officially was 2.2/2.1, for customers of USA. The other version is 3.0d3.
- There was a leaked version of 2.2.2 that was transformed into Open SSL from RSA encryption engine. This may point out to the fact that, Be were clearing the causes of commercial code in order to make it open source.
- The binaries of NetPositive that are built and includes the various encryption libraries and other means that OS does not provide, are 1.4 to 1.7 MB in size. It is not compressed and depends on the quality of the encryption.
- It is possible to embed NetPositive into the desktop of the operating system or any other application.
- There are different projects which clone NetPositive specially for BeOS because the users of BeOS are familiar with the interface. Themis is extremely advanced in capturing the qualities of NetPositive in a modern browser.
NetPositive also has a newer version known as Net++ which uses the Gecko engine.
