KHTML and WebKit-based Browsers

KHTML and WebKit-based Browsers are those web browsers that are based on KHTML engine layout. The HTML layout engine which was developed by the the second KDE project in 2002 is the KHTML engine layout. This KHTML engine layout is more efficient than Gecko layout engines. KHTML was written in C++ and licensed under LGPL. The KHTML web browsers are customized in accordance with the needs of he Internet users to make web experience more comfortable and easy with KHTML and KHTML engine layout WebKit-based Browsers.

WebKit specifically refers to an open source browser engine or the Mac OS X system framework version of the engine used in Apple's Safari Browser. The WebKit is also used for e-mails, DashBoard and other OS X Application.

However there might be several problems arising in KHTML and WebKit-based browsers. These disadvantages might include:

  • Inability to view all websites properly and might even cause the crash of the KHTML based web browser.
  • KHTML and WebKit-based web browser might not provide support for Cascading Style Sheets or CSS.
  • You may not be able to scroll through the web pages you browse with the wheel of your mouse.

KHTML and WebKit-based Browsers excel over the Gecko based web browsers like Camino, Epiphany, Flock, etc in terms of the speed of deliverance. The chief competition in such a scenario is of course the products of Mozilla Foundation.
