IceWeasel is the name, which is used for two new and self-sufficient projects of Mozilla Firefox. IceWeasel is an important type of Gecko–based Browser and is available in the form of free downloads. Of the two projects, one is a part of the Gnuzilla Project and the other one is build by the Debian Community.

Gnuzilla Ice Weasel is a Project of GNU, which was developed with the aim of providing Mozilla Programs with new version which are entirely made of free software. Artworks and Plugins are some of the softwares which were replaced by Gnuzilla Ice Weasel with free softwares. Gnuzilla Ice Weasel thus provides with only free software. The very first release of Gnuzilla Ice Weasel was based on an important version of Firefox, the 1.5.0.4 version. The most current version of Gnuzilla Ice Weasel is 1.5.0.7 which was released on 22 nd October, 2006.
Debian Ice Weasel
ebian Ice Weasel is based on the customized version of Firefox which is found in the Firefox package. The tag “ IceWeasel ” was used by the Debian Community as a probable name to be used by it for the renamed Firefox versions. This resulted in a revival of the term, Ice Weasel . Ice Weasel was first used by the Debian community on 20 th November, 2006. Ice Weasel is Debian's free fork of Firefox.
