DocZilla

DocZilla is a web browser based on Mozilla which supports the use of Standard Generalized Markup Language or SGML. DocZilla, the SGML browser software application is so designed in order to give you efficient conversion of SGML documents to propriety formats in minimum time. Apart from SGML, DocZilla Also supports the use of eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). DocZilla is an improved variation of Mozilla Browser in respect that it can support more sophisticated editions of XML and SGML.

Here is the list of all the data objects supported by DocZilla, the SGML Browser:

  • Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML)
  • eXtensible Markup Language (XML)
  • HyperText Markup Language (HTML)
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • HyperText Markup Language (HTML)
  • Document Type Definitions (DTD)
  • Document Sets / table of Contents (XML/XSLT)
  • CALS
  • API (Javascript)
  • HyTime
  • Document Type Definitions (DTD)
  • CALS
  • Media files (notation data)
  • API (Javascript)
  • The supplementary characteristics of DocZilla that distinguishes it from Mozilla are:

  • DocZilla GUI (Graphical User Interface).
  • Provides support for various link types (ID/IDREF and HyTime clinks with Xlinks, treeloc, nameloc, locators and queryloc).
  • Broadened search capacities, document set and content- support table.
  • In addition to HTML and CSS Doczilla also supports such useful features such as navigation history bookmarks, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and much more.
  • DocZilla is indeed a deserving descendant of Mozilla but due to some unfortunate license complexities, DocZilla project came to an abrupt end in 2001.
