AOL

AOL browser is one of the discontinued specialty browsers developed by AOL, which is an American company that specializes in Internet services. AOL browser is now known as AOL Explorer.

AOL Features

The features of the browser from AOL are:
  • It supports a feature called tabbed browsing and it was the first type of browser that could preview pages in thumbnail sizes.
  • Power browsing feature of AOL helped users to create or modify the look of a web page. It includes styles such as “ I Need Glasses” and “High Contrast”.
  • The version 1.2 of AOL included enhanced features like RSS Widgets and Tab Explorer. On pressing the Tab Explorer button, each tab can be previewed on the screen, in a thumbnail format. One can directly access a page by clicking on any preview. Internet Explorer has a feature called “Quick Tabs” which resembles this.
  • Version 1.5 of AOL has many feature like Feeds Screensaver, visual themes, desktop widgets and other features that can improve performance.
AOL Facts
  • AOL signed a contract of 7 seven years with the Microsoft company for using the code of Internet Explorer in their browsers and other products.
  • The browser by AOL uses the technology of Internet Explorer.
  • AOL does not support the “Live Search” engine.
