E-Mail Address

An E-Mail Address is defined as a unique location where one can receive his or her electronic mails. E-mail or the electronic mail is the electronically transmitted message that could be sent by using an internet connection.

An E-Mail Address consists of several parts and it looks like this: xyz@abc.com. The portion before the “@” sign must be unique. It could be your name or any word of your choice. It is the local part of the E-Mail Address. It is often referred as the sign in or the user name.

After the “@” sign, which is the second part of the email ID, is the domain name. It is also known as the Internet email address or the host name. The user name of email ID and the domain name is separated by a “@” sign.

After the host name, there is a three letter suffix separated by a “.” sign, which is pronounced as dot. The suffix stands as an identification mark of the type of organization the server is. If it’s a .com then it an commercial organization, if it’s a .gov then it’s a government organization, if it’s a .edu, then it’s a educational organization and so on.

Every user had his or her own unique E-Mail Address, from where he or she can compose, edit, and send mails to other email addresses across the world on just a mouse click. Some email services provide an option to you where you would get a confirmation message once your mail is received and read by the receiver.
