Anti-spam Techniques

Anti-spam Techniques are very useful techniques used for preventing e-mail spam. E-mail spam is an unsolicited mail sent to many recipients in identical structure. The term is usually used for the mails that comes from an absolute stranger and does not provide any kind of useful information. Both e-mail system users and administrators use various kinds of Anti-spam Techniques to avoid e-mail spam. These e-mail spams could overcrowd the inbox and cause a lot of trouble. Anti-spam Techniques can be categorized as Individual Anti-spam Actions and Automated Anti-spam Techniques.

Individual Anti-spam Actions

There are several Anti-spam Techniques that can be applied by an individual to reduce and avoid the problem of e-mail spam.
  • Enable automatic techniques: There are a number of anti-spam techniques that can be installed within a computer. Internet service providers and e-mail clients themselves can install this system accordingly.
  • Hiding e-mail addresses: If one can conceal their e-mail addresses. There are several ways to prevent the e-mail addresses to appear on the screen.
  • Avoiding spam: E-mail spasm should never be responded. Any sort of response confirms the validity of that specific e-mail address.

Automated Anti-spam Techniques Several services and software are available that can be used by the users as well as e-mail sites for reducing the load of spams on their mail boxes. The e-mails sent by Internet sites that are likely to send spam mails are rejected by these systems. Some of these software or other services automatically analyzes a spam and rejects it. These approaches are known as ‘blocking’ or ‘filtering’.
