National Internet Service Providers are Internet Service Providers who operate on a National level. National Internet Service Providers are basically large telecom companies that have nationwide coverage and operations. These National Internet Service Providers operate primarily on a national level. They work both independently and also cater to regional internet service providers.
The national internet service providing organizations assist consumers to access the internet via their services. The Internet Service Providers, especially the ones operating at the national level, do not just have services for internet transit and other related connections. These business organizations are also engaged in providing the consumers with domain name registration, domain hosting and web hosting.
National Internet Service Providers or National ISP, as they are better known, is often referred to by another name too. They are also called “Internet Access Provider”. Initially most of the National Internet Service Providers comprised of telephone companies. Most of the internet services provided is nowadays done via DSL or Dial-up; though DSL remains the preferred option. The other types of ISPs are Broadband wireless access, Modem, Cable modem, ISDN and Satellite Internet access.

Internet Service Providers at the national level have the additional business of providing connections to regional of local ISPs. These downstream ISPs provide the local consumers with internet service and access. It is from the National agents that the internet connections are then finally distributed in the local areas.
