Wireless Internet Connection

Wireless Internet Connection supports high speed wireless Internet via base stations like cellular network. This technology can provide high speed accessibility to the Internet. With recent advances in wireless Internet technology, Wireless Internet Connection is available anywhere and everywhere. Connections are readily available on laptops, cell phones and other mobile computing devices. Wireless Service providers use the 802.11 b technology, also called as wi-fi, which is the most popular standard for wireless network worldwide.

Requirements for Wireless Internet Connection
  • A laptop computer running windows 98, ME, 2000, XP or pocket PC (2002/2003)
  • A Wi-Fi compatible 802.11b card (external and internal) for the laptop or the pocket PC. It is to be made sure that the Wi-Fi card is compatible with the wireless Internet Service in use.
  • A high speed wireless Internet access plan.
  • Software for locating accesses at hundreds of hot spot locations. This software is supplied by the existing wireless Internet service provider.

Variation of Speed in Wireless Internet Connection
      • In a landline connection the speed is greater because the computer needs only to pass through one juncture i.e the PSTN. This enables less interference and a cleaner, stronger and ultimately faster connection.
      • Cellular connection has a high rate of successful contacts. But the speed is decreased because of the interruptions in the cellular signals. Again, the signal has to pass through more contact points to attain final connection with the Internet service provider.

Time is money and Wireless Internet Connection has been growing rapidly for the last few years. Easy access to Internet in the Airports, Hotels or Railway Stations are evident of it. Although Wireless Internet Connection is currently not available everywhere except for the metropolitan locations, the day is not far when even the remotest of areas would have access to it.
