Vaccination is the process of recuperating the weakened or dead pathogens emerging in a body of a living organism – human body or animal’s – by immunization. Coined by Edward Jenner, the idea of vaccination was tailored by Louis Pasteur in the 11th century in China. It is a derived form the word “vacca” – a Latin word – means cow. It was named after the first vaccine ensuing from a virus affecting a cow.
Vaccination involves the process of injecting “immunogens” that slowly or rapidly kills the targeted diseases agent, present in for of virus. Most of the vaccines are instilled into the infected body through hypodermic injection with the use of an infectious agent. However, sometimes, vaccination can also be given orally with the purpose of producing immunity based in the bowel.
There are three types of Vaccination discovered till date:
Diseases that mandate immunization or vaccination method are: Polio, Small pox, cancer, Alzheimer's, Typhoid, Cholera, Rabies, Tuberculosis and SARS. Current R & D in Vaccination are focused on the development of immunogens to fight against diseases like HIV and malaria.
