Child Health Hygiene

The health of a child depends not only on nutrition but also on the hygienic condition in which the child is brought up. The immune system of a child is not as well developed as a grown up. This makes the child susceptible to all kinds of infections. And when the conditions are not hygienic it provides a perfect breeding ground for disease carrying micro-organisms. The child then gets infected very easily.

Children, regularly affected by diseases caused due to unhygienic conditions become weak from within and run the risk of being afflicted every now and then. So it is extremely essential to take care of the hygienic conditions of a child.

Some necessary steps are mentioned below

  • Children need to be bathed regularly. Arm pits and areas around the genitals need to be soaped regularly. This kills bacteria which tend to grow more around these regions.
  • Sensitive areas need to be powdered every day.
  • Clothes and under sheets of a child should be washed with disinfectants and dried in the sun.
  • Shoes should be washed or cleaned and dried in the sun. Clean shoes prevent fungal infection in the feet.

  • Hair must be often shampooed and the scalp massaged to remove dead cells and keep the head clean.
  • After toilet the bottom of a child must be cleaned with antiseptic lotions.
  • Brushing teeth twice a day is important.
  • Room of a child must be cleaned with disinfectants and dusted every day
