Founded in 1999, IBS was the first Institution to be established on the Isle of Man for the sole purpose of providing higher education on the island. Built on a sprawling manor in the suburbs of Douglas, the capital ‘The Nunnery’ of the Isle offers a unique location for holding corporate conferences as well as shooting films.
Courses Offered
Isle of Man International Business School offers the following categories of programs:
- Degree Programs in business or finance which cater to undergraduate and post graduate students
- Corporate Programs where Business Improvement workshops can be conducted by conglomerates to train employees and boost their morale.
- Professional Programs where professional bodies give Certificates for short term programs, taken mostly by Executives.
Some of the Courses of the Degree Program include:
- BA (Hons) Business Management
- MSC International Banking and Finance with optional 3 month work placement
Scholarships and Bursaries
Scholarships are awarded by IBS to international candidates with outstanding academic records to pay for their tuition fees and living costs. Some Scholarships cover some expenses whereas others cover full tuition expenses.
Bursaries have a maximum value of £1,000 and are awarded to international students according to the financial condition of the student.
Student Facilities
Apart from online learning resources, IBS has a library which only stocks hard copy volumes. This library was refurbished in June 2006 and comprises all key management books for all the subjects taught at IBS. IBS students can also access library facilities of the Isle of Man College.
Student Welfare officers offer counseling to students with personal problems on a voluntary basis.
At present, IBS does not have facilities for staying on campus. But the Institute offers facilities through its scheme of Homestay. In this Scheme, an arrangement is made by IBS so that students can lodge with a family nearby. This scheme is a favorite choice among international students.
