Founded in 1852 for spearheading the education of barristers, the Inns of Court School of Law (ICSL) now forms a part of the City Law School, City University, London. ICSL is located at Gray’s Inn in London. Traditionally famous for the education imparted to would-be barristers, the reputed ICSL has changed according to the times and offers a host of legal programs.

Programs Offered

The Inns of Court School of Law offers the following set of programs to cater to diverse student requirements:

• The Bar Vocational Course (BVC): This is a course that teaches skills essential to the actual practice of the profession.
  
  
  
  The Bar Council selected this course to be the model for the substantiation of the other courses.
• The Legal Practice Course: This course has received an ‘excellent’ grading from the Law Society.
• LLM Criminal Litigation: This is a special LLM degree from ICSL and the first among its kind in the nation to be wholly dedicated to Criminal Litigation
• Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Courses: These are courses to further enhance the skills of solicitors, accountants, etc.
  
  Scholarships

  Inns of Court School of Law is sanctioning four new scholarships for the Bar Vocational Course Program in the session 2007-08. Each scholarship is valued at £6,000. Only one applicant in each Inn will receive the scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded on academic as well as financial grounds.
  
  Facilities

  Students of ICSL can access the library facilities of City Law School, City University. This library houses a vast collection of legal databases, legal encyclopedias and law reports. In addition to this, BVC students of ICSL have access to the libraries of their individual Inns. The School espouses equal rights for all its students and hence welcomes students who are disabled. Disabled applicants are advised to indicate their needs during the Application Process so that the same can be addressed by the Disability and Specific Learning Difficulties Coordinator. Accommodation can be availed of by the students at the City University’s Hall of Residence.
