The University of Canterbury is one of the two best Universities of New Zealand. It is located in the city of Christchurch and is popular for the exclusive and promising research opportunities. Established in 1873, the University previously was known as the Canterbury College. Today the University Campus houses a number of business organization like the University Bookshop, ANZ Bank, and Hang Seng Chinese Takeaway.

The university also has scholarship provisions ranging from General scholarships to oversea scholarships. Besides the University has come up with a range of new scholarships like Riccarton Rotary Youth Trust Scholarship and Andrew Justice Memorial scholarships.
The university's students are blessed with a highly informative and useful library which was established in 1879. Today the collection of this library amounts to 1,750,000, embracing both traditional and modern sources.
There are Halls of residence in the university campus which provides the students with ideal living conditions. The students can also lodge in the privately run hostels.
