The Unitec New Zealand was founded in 1976 under the name �Carrington Polytechnic'. The institute attained the status of a university in 1999. It is a chief polytechnic tertiary education institute of New Zealand. In 2005, Unitec had 65,636 students studying under 146 programs.

Location : The Unitec New Zealand is located in Auckland, New Zealand. The main campus is situated in Mt Albert. A secondary campus called the Waitakere Campus is located at Henderson.

The library also offers online databases and the Internet to the students. In addition the Computer Lab is available for student use.
Accommodation : The Unitec New Zealand has the Unitec Residential Village to provide accommodation to the students. It is a complex containing separate self-contained apartments. The Residential Village consists of two buildings, one located on campus and the other adjacent to the campus.
Scholarships : The Unitec New Zealand offers a number of $2000 study awards to the students. Current students and full-time students are eligible for this award. The students enrolled in diploma or degree level programs receive priority. In addition, there are the Unitec Partner School Awards for current and prospective students.
