The AIS St Helens (Auckland Institute of Studies Limited) was established in 1990 as a School of Languages which provided English courses to international students. Presently, AIS St Helens is the largest private degree provider of New Zealand. The institute is also the most internationally acclaimed institute of the country. The current strength of students is around 1500, 80% of whom are international students.
Location :
The main campus of AIS St Helens is located very close to the Auckland Central Business District (CBD), in Western Springs, Auckland. The campus is also located near Auckland's North Western motorway, making it easy to commute to the campus. The other campus is the Asquith Campus, situated near Mt Albert.

Library & Learning Resources :
The AIS St Helens institute has a comprehensive library located in its main campus. A broad collection of books, journals, magazines, CD ROMs, newspapers, audio and video tapes are available in the library to provide support for the courses studied at the institute. Separate reading and study rooms are provided for students, as well as an Independent Learning Centre with computing facilities. A Language Laboratory is located on campus along with several computer labs, for student use.
Accommodation :
Dormitory Accommodation is provided by the AIS St Helens for its students. Accommodation consists of fully furnished rooms on campus. Private Sector accommodation is also provided in the form of ‘Homestay' or Flats. Accommodation should be requested at least two weeks prior to the start of a program.
Scholarships :
A limited number of scholarships are awarded each year to undergraduate degree program students by the AIS St Helens institute. The applicants are considered on an individual basis. Academic merit is not always the parameter of selection for these scholarships.
