St. Patrick's College of Education


St. Patrick's College is a medium sized College of Education with over 2,000 students studying in education and Humanities at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Since 1993, the courses in the College are accredited by the College of Dublin City University. The College's academic departments are currently divided into two faculties - the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Education. The Catholic identity of the College is nurtured through religious worship and campus ministry. Apart from the main building the campus comprises of Belvedere House (1650), St. Patrick's Primary School, The Drumcondra Education Centre (1972), Education Research Centre (1966). The College is located in Dublin.

The College also offers in service education programs and international programs for the students.

Library: The Cregan Library houses books, important journals, databases, e-journals to help the students in their academic careers.

Residences: The students are provided with on campus accommodation and they have to contact the residence office to get the necessary details.

The College participates in the European Erasmus/Socrates programmes through which students may spend three or four months at a Continental European university. Students also participate on the Wider Horizons Programme in America with students from Stranmillis, St Mary's College, Belfast and the Church of Ireland College, Dublin. Several professional courses are also offered to the students in the form of continuing education.

Scholarships: Scholarships and research fellowships are given to the students who want to pursue research in Children's Literature.
