The Faculty of Science is the community of staff and students in the various subject areas relating to Science pursued in the College. At present, the Faculty has more than 2,300 students and 90 Professors and Lecturers, together with technical, secretarial and support staff. The members of the Faculty are to be found on all major University committees, and its activities are carried out in a wide variety of locations around the campus.

- National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science
- National Centre for Laser Applications
National University of Galway has a good collection of books, journals, articles and other study materials in their James Hardiman Library which the students can access for carrying on their research work.
There are some scholarships, grants and awards given to the science students especially by the university or by other associations in collaboration with the university as a mark of their achievement like the Franz Werfel Grant and the Ernst Mach Grant.
The Student Accommodation Office provides a register of lodgings for all the students which include staying with a host family and Student Residences. There are nine Student Residences providing self-catering housing specifically for NUI Galway students.
