Colaiste Mhuire or the Marino Institute of Education is a primary teacher training college run by the Congregation of Christian Brothers. From its earliest days the College was involved in the training of teaching students who would subsequently work on the five continents. In 1926 the Christian Brothers entered the National Schools system. 1972 saw another positive change with the admission of lay students in the College. The B.Ed Qualification also gained importance from this time only in association with the Trinity College Dublin .Established by Edmund Rice, this College now comprises of the College of Education (Colaiste Mhuire Marino), the Centre for Education Services, the Conference Centre and other support services.
Undergraduate Programs:
A B Ed, Bachelor of Education, is a professional degree that provides the academic and professional requirements for primary teachers. It is taught in conjunction with University of Dublin, (Trinity College) Department of Teacher Education.
The course is divided into three groups:
Theory,
Competence
Methodology and Teaching.

Grants will be available from local Authorities to students who satisfy the requirements of the Higher Education Grants Scheme.

Research is conducted in various topics and the aim of these research projects is to address the needs of the teachers in Ireland and abroad.

The modern 3 to 5 room apartments on the campus are not only comfortable but are well-equipped to meet the demands of the students.
The Centre for Education Services, Conference Centre along with the Resource Centre is a constant help for the students.
