Ireland is an English-speaking island on the north-western edge of Europe. The Republic of Ireland occupies three-quarters of the island and its capital is at Dublin.
There are fourteen Institutes around the country, providing a range of qualifications, including certificates, degrees and postgraduate awards, as well as the educational part of many apprenticeship and craft programs. The qualification system within the Institutes of Technology allows students to initially take certain Higher Certificate courses, which normally last for two years, and then gain entry onto Ordinary and Higher Degree courses.
The 14 Institutes of Technology are:
- Athlone IT
- Cork IT
- Dublin Institute of Technology
- Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology
- Dundalk IT
- Galway-Mayo IT
- IT Blanchardstown

All of Ireland's Institutes have on-campus or off-campus student accommodation. The Student Accommodation Office looks after the accommodation needs of the international students as well.
All the Institutes of Technology have Library facility for the students. The libraries stock books, journals and other study materials with internet access.
The Institutes of Technology provide the students with awards, scholarships and grants to help them carry on their studies or research work. The scholarships are also given as a mark of recognition.
