The Humanities Institute of Ireland (HII) was established in 2002 under the Higher Education Authority's Program for Research in Third Level Institutions (PRTLI).
HII focuses on leading-edge interdisciplinary research in the humanities and social sciences not only within the university itself but also nationally.
The following sections provide a summary of HII's research agenda, indicating the nature of institutional and international collaborations involved.

The Irish Virtual Research Library & Archive (IVRLA) is a major digitization & digital object management project launched in UCD in January 2005.This project is a component of the HII.
Accommodation
UCD has rooms on the Belfield and Blackrock Campus for more than 2000 students in three, four, five and six bedroom self- catering apartments.
