Galway Mayo Institute of Technology opened its door for the students from September; 1972.This Institute consists of five schools and a number of campuses.

These schools provide a huge array of degrees and diplomas in various steams of Business, Humanities, Engineering etc.

- Bachelor of Arts in Humanities in Heritage Studies
- Bachelor of Science in Furniture Technology National Diploma in Business Studies in Rural Enterprise and Agri Business
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- National Certificate In Professional Cookery
The main library of the college, located in Learning and IT Resource Centre, when the other libraries are found in various campuses. These Libraries provides en extensive collection of Books, Journals and Databases.
Scholarships granted: GMIT grants 9 scholarships for each of the schools, other than those, Vocational Education Committee scholarships and Higher Education Grants are also provided to the eligible students.

The students are offered accommodations in Student Villages, Private rented Houses etc.
