The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the National University of Ireland Galway, Ireland has an enrolment of approximately 1400 students, including many from overseas. University College Hospital, conveniently located beside the University campus, is the major teaching hospital.
The Faculty has expanded in recent years and now offers courses in:

- Nursing Studies
- Speech & Language Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Students completing the Faculty's primary undergraduate program in Medicine are conferred with the degrees of:
- Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)
- Bachelor of Surgery (B.Ch.)
- Bachelor of Obstetrics (B.A.O.).
- Postgraduate programs include the:
- Doctor of Medicine M.D.:
- Master of Surgery M.Ch.
- Master of Obstetrics M.A.O.,
- Master of Medical Science, the
- Master of Medical Science in Medicine/Physiotherapy
- Masters of Medical Science in Sport and Exercise Medicine/Physiotherapy.
The Medical Library is located in the ground floor of the Clinical Science Institute in the grounds of University College Hospital, Galway. As a branch of the Main Library, this library offers all of the services and facilities available to registered students and staff of NUI, Galway.
The Faculty of Medicine at NUI Galway gives its successful students the prestigious Dr Henry Hutchinson Stewart scholarships, awarded by the National University of Ireland. The annual awards, which include 2nd and 3rd place prizes as well as the six first place scholarships, are based on the results of examinations in the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The Student Accommodation office provides a register of lodgings for all the students which include staying with a host family and Student Residences. There are nine Student Residences providing self-catering housing specifically for NUI Galway students.
