The Faculty of Built Environment primarily focuses on developing a centre of excellence for the disciplines of the built environment in Ireland. It deals with effective planning, designing, building, promoting and managing of the country's, towns and cities whilst protecting and enhancing the countryside and heritage.
The Faculty offers different programs of study along with applied research through its 4 schools functioning under the Faculty of Built Environment:
- School of Spatial Planning
- School of Construction
- School of Architecture
- School of Real Estate & Construction Economics
There are seven libraries within the Institute. DIT Library currently stocks more than 250,000 books and other items and subscribes to nearly 20,000 journal titles.
The university provides the students with awards, scholarships and grants to help them carry on their studies or research work and also as a mark of recognition.
The Student Accommodation Service is an information service provided by the Student Sports, Recreation and Support Dept. in co-operation with the Students' Union.
