The Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Ireland Galway, a faculty that has a long and proud tradition at NUI, Galway and has been part of the curriculum since the University first opened its doors as Queen's College Galway in 1849.
The Faculty of Engineering consists of six departments:
- Civil Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Engineering Hydrology
- Industrial Engineering
- Information Technology
- Mechanical
Eight primary undergraduate BE programs are offered across the faculty encompassing a wide variety of engineering disciplines.
National University of Galway has a good collection of books, journals, articles and other study materials in their James Hardiman Library which the students can access and carry on their research work
The students of NUI, Galway are given certain scholarships as a mark of recognition. There is a special scholarship given to young women in Engineering as part of a Program to Increase the Participation of Women in Science, Engineering and Technology Research in Ireland. A limited number of Faculty fellowships are available, and are awarded for the purpose of assisting postgraduate students who are proceeding full-time to a postgraduate degree (by research) at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
The Student Accommodation office provides a register of lodgings for all the students which include staying with a host family and Student Residences. There are nine Student Residences providing self-catering housing specifically for NUI Galway students.
