University of Trier was formed in 1473 but dissolved in the time of Napoleon. It was recreated in 1970 as Campusuniversität. The beautiful campus of the University of Trier was set up in 1975 at Tarforst, an urban district on the outskirts of Trier. It began with the faculty of Arts but later extended its curriculum to the study of commerce, law and science.
Motto:
The modern University of Trier continues using the historical seal inscribing a Latin motto, which says “God completes the favors of wisdom from the city of Trier”.

Around 14,000 students are registered at present in the University of Trier. The central library is situated in the middle of faculty buildings for easy access to students. Besides, there are cheap student-residences near the university campus. One can also enjoy the local good wine.
