The University of Hildesheim was established in 1978, and since then it has developed into a reasonably popular university in Germany. Recently, the university has had an addition into its curriculum, that of new media and information technology. Over 4000 students study at the University of Hildesheim at present. The university consists of three main departments.

Library & Learning Resources :
The library at the University of Hildesheim provides all necessary resources for the study and research of the students, which include books, journals, e-journals, electronic resources and online databases. The library also provides reading rooms, access to the internet, and printing & photocopying services. The university also has a Computer Centre.
Accommodation :
The University of Hildesheim has six Halls of Residence rendered by the Studentenwerk and various church organizations. to provide accommodation to the International Students. The University also provides necessary assistance to the students for the arrangement of privately rented accommodation.
