The University of Augsburg was established in 1970 by Wilfried Bottke. It consists of seven faculties. The university currently has around 15,000 students, and 20% of the German students come from outside Bavaria. 14% of the students are international students. The University of Augsburg maintains partnerships with 40 different universities in Europe, Asia, South Africa, North America and Latin America.

- Scholarships : The University of Augsburg provides a limited number of individual scholarships and financial aid to mature international students. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit. There are no provisions for financial aid for first semester students.
