Ludwig Maximilian University was initially started in 1472 in Ingolstadt and later in 1826, it was shifted to Munich by King Ludwig I.

Research
This University offers a wide range of programmes to the students to choose from. LMU also gives top most priority to research activities. It is one of the leading research universities in Germany. It has Collaborative Research Centers which fund all postgraduate and graduate level research initiatives. This University is a ‘host' university to 13 Collaborative research centers.
Library
The University Library has a brilliant collection of 300,000 books on rare subject. It is also a storehouse of important and scarce titles and manuscripts.
