Officially called the Justus Liebig University, after Justus Liebig, the founder of artificial fertilizers, the University of Giessen was established in 1607 in the city of Giessen by Leibig among others. With a capacity of 22,000 students & 8500 employees it makes Giessen the most student dominated city of Germany.
