The Freiburg University of Mining and Technology or the TU Bergakademie Freiberg is a technical university located in Saxony, Germany. The university was conceived due to the boom in silver mining in the 18th century in that part of the world. The exact foundation year of this university is 1765.

There are seven faculties or departments. They are Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Chemistry and Physics, Faculty of Geosciences, Geotechnology and Mining, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Process and Energy Engineering, Faculty of Materials Science and Materials Technology, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Interdisciplinary Ecological Center.
Facilities:
The university has a main library and eleven branches of it. There are a total of 771,000 media units, 200 work places and 35 computer work stations. 30 scientific collections are hosted by the university. The mineralogical collections at the university are rare and exotic. The Freiberg Administration of Student Services has three housing facilities for the students.
