Universite d'Auvergne was founded in 1806 and later in 1976 this was renamed as Universite d'Auvergne Clermont Ferdenand 1. With total student strength of about 13,000, it has become one of the most sort after universities of France.
The Organizational structure of the University includes:
- Five teaching and Research Faculties
- One University Institute of Technology(IUP)
- One Institute of Preparation for the General Administrative Exams(IPAG)
The University offers a wide range of subjects like:

There are 21 highly developed research centers in the University such as the Center for International Development Research, several of which are affiliated to the Institute National de la Santé et de la recherché Medicale.
Financial assistances
The University provides a wide range of supportive financial assistance to the students in order to encourage them. For example it grants Erasmus assistance which amount between 70 to 90 euros per month to the students whose family cannot financially support their studies. Similarly, Assistance Leonard enables a student to carry out a training course in a company which is located in the European Community. There are other forms of assistance provided by the University like Municipal Assistance and Regional assistance.
Other Facilities
The university provides the students with a wide range of useful facilities which further makes their learning experience smooth and simple. Like there are libraries, language laboratories and computer centers which are adequately equipped with the modern technologies of communication and information. The students can avail the housing facilities available within the campus.
